Like many of those on the OVRS management team, Priscilla Faux has been working with people with developmental disabilities for most of her life.
She began working at OVRS in 1988 as a program coordinator, overseeing four homes and later adding a fifth. She later became program coordinator for the OVRS Supported Living program as the organization built a base of foster care homes.
In 1995, she became the OVRS human resources director. With her experience on the program side, she has a special blend of skills and compassion that she brings to her human resources role.
With her team, she works diligently to find employees who embrace the OVRS mission. “It is important for us to challenge and foster growth not only in the men and women supported by OVRS but also the staff who work directly with them,” she said.
Her team’s work helps to create the culture that supports the aims contained in the OVRS Value Statement: “To enable persons with developmental disabilities to flourish, OVRS provides individually focused, compassionate, safe and quality services with the highest ethical standards.”
Previously, she worked at a Butler County Board of Developmental Disabilities sheltered workshop. She also spent many summers working at Camp Stepping Stones in Indian Hill, which serves people with developmental disabilities.
Her college and work experiences have given her the opportunity to work in the full range of services for people with developmental disabilities: education, vocational and residential. She met many OVRS clients in her previous roles. “It has been a joy for me to see these individuals grow as adults,” she said.
She graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a bachelor’s of science degree in education. She also completed course work in the University of Cincinnati’s College of Business. She is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources.
